AAUP-OSU Calls for a Ceasefire in Israel-Palestine

AAUP-Ohio State supports this call by labor unions for a ceasefire in Israel-Palestine, which begins:
“We, members of the American labor movement, mourn the loss of life in Israel and Palestine. We express our solidarity with all workers and our common desire for peace in Palestine and Israel, and we call on President Joe Biden and Congress to push for an immediate ceasefire and end to the siege in Gaza. We cannot bomb our way to peace. We also condemn any hate crimes against Muslims, Jews, or anyone else.”
On February 14, 2024, the national AAUP itself issued a statement to support the same call.
We also recognize the AFT ceasefire resolution passed on January 30, 2024. While we preferred the labor statement above, we encourage members to reflect on these different efforts to call for peace.
